BFCRG Contributes to IEEE AiDAS 2024 on Blockchain Readiness in the Palm Oil Sector

The Blockchain, Fintech, and Cryptocurrency Research Group (BFCRG) proudly announces its contribution to the 2024 5th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Data Sciences (AiDAS), with the publication of a collaborative research paper titled:
“Determining the Readiness Factors to Adapt Blockchain Technology in the Palm Oil Industry to Facilitate Circular Economy Transition.”

Co-authored by Zurida Ishak, Ahmad Shazwan Ahmad Amran, Ts Dr Mohammad Dalvi Esfahani, Ramesh Kumar Ayyasamy, Meilina Ong Bt Abdullah, and Yeoh Jo Ann, this study addresses the growing need for sustainable transformation in Malaysia’s palm oil industry—a sector at the crossroads of economic importance and rising Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) expectations.

The paper, published by IEEE (pages 457–462), highlights the critical readiness factors that enable the effective integration of Blockchain Technology (BCT) to support Circular Economy (CE) practices. By analyzing cause-and-effect relationships, the study provides a decision-making framework to guide industry practitioners in assessing blockchain adoption potential within their CE strategies.

🧠 Key Focus Areas:

  • The role of blockchain in enhancing transparency and traceability in palm oil supply chains
  • Identifying organizational, technological, and regulatory readiness
  • Overcoming barriers to blockchain implementation in sustainability transitions

This research not only furthers BFCRG’s mission of promoting real-world impact through digital innovation, but also contributes to the broader discourse on ESG compliance and technological adoption in high-impact industries.
